I was reading up on cryptids when I should have been doing something more urgent. The Marsh People of Barnstable were particularly spooky to me - mysterious, mud-covered humanoid creatures who drag unsuspecting folks down into the marsh.
I ended up drawing something less marsh-y and more lake-y, mainly so I could hide more cryptids in the trees.

I'm especially pleased with the way his hands turned out.
I could draw ferns all day. I love how wispy they are (and how well they cover the weird spots on the creatures' backs and feet where they meet the rocks)
