One of my more recent tabletop characters is a surgeon who runs a small clinic where he cuts off gangrenous legs and pulls teeth. Before games I often get into character by imagining characters in solitary moments. I've taken to imagining him taking a moment alone in the clinic after losing a patient, too defeated and exhausted to even wash his hands.
Thanks to my student Liam for generously sitting for the (decidedly non-bloody) reference photos for this.

The procedure needed to look very serious, and hint at something going very wrong.

The stool is much more modern than I had planned, but I liked the negative space so I decided to keep the original.
